US Launches Operation Economic Outcast Against Iran
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent launched Operation Economic Outcast, an aggressive pressure campaign targeting Iran's remaining financial networks globally. The initiative imposes secondary penalties on nations and third-party entities trading with Tehran, specifically targeting oil, gold, shipping, aviation, technology, and digital assets. Dubbed an economic D-Day, the strategy aims to isolate the regime by threatening to cut non-compliant entities off from the US financial system. This move comes amid an ongoing conflict with Iran that has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and driven up global energy prices.
